Yik Yak is an anonymous message board social media app that fills your newsfeed with posts from a 10-mile radius of your current location. The app was released in 2013 and quickly became popular with high school and college students around the country.
Users get on Yik Yak to express their feelings, tell jokes and to find the nearest party. They also can up- and down-vote posts, which means posts are sorted based on popularity.
Marketers with events geared toward this younger crowd can hop on Yik Yak to promote their events. Or even better, they should hire influencers to promote events.
