Social Media News: Facebook Adds Branded Content Rules
Last month, Facebook rewrote its branded content rules, allowing publishers to post ads in the form of branded content to their pages or generate their own advertorial content. For example, Lady Gaga was recently featured in a post that promoted Intel music.
Marketers are responsible for using the words presented by or sponsored by in posts to indicate branded content. Pre-roll advertisements or continual watermarks are still prohibited.
Social Media Tip of the Month: Measure Snapchat
Here are some ways to measure metrics of your Snaps:
Total unique views: This number comes from the views per Snapchat Story (the number next to the eye icon when you click on a segment of your story)
Total story completions: This comes from the number of views listed on the last part of your story (it aggregates views from the earlier parts of your story)
Story completion rate: Divide total unique views by total story completions to see ratio of who viewed your entire story
Screenshots: When users screenshot your content, it indicates interest in your product or the intention to share content
Buzz: Monitor your other social sites to see if followers are talking about your Snaps
Social Media Platform of the Month: Feedly
Feedly allows users to collect stories from media outlets, blogs, YouTube and keyword alerts to stay up to date on particular topics, whether for clients or for their own business. The free app became one of the top for news aggregating after Google shut down its Reader app in 2013.
Users can organize, read and search within Feedly, tag stories to save for later and easily share them through platforms like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Pinterest. Use the app to discover and share timely content with clients or staff. A new feature of the app, called Shared Collections, allows users to create a public feed specifically for sharing.
If your company does B2B, and youre looking to position a staff member as a thought leader, try using Feedly to create a feed of curated industry content so he/she can be first to share news or innovative articles.
